This is a children's action story about an Old English Sheepdog puppy named Samson. He is born to a present-day family that lives in their old family castle in the English countryside. Samson was raised on stories of courageous dogs and noble heroes of old, and dreams of being a heroic knight one day.

One day, when Samson thinks he is old enough, he leaves the safety of his home to explore beyond the castle grounds. As he wonders the country side looking for adventure, he meets and helps various woodland creatures, making many friends. But, he is discouraged because he doesn't do anything heroic. Or did he?

When it's finally time for Samson to return home, he finds he has lost his way. Soon Samson discovers he is lost, injured, and trapped!
