Baubles And Jacks

I am building a sanctuary
the size of a corner
a little like the resting place of
my tabby's
in a storybook
that grows long
chilled behind its secrets
into a romping adventure

there is a small, delicate place
that my cat loves for me to
touch
the size of a thumb
like the moon is laid out
for her
smelling of fresh tuna for
her delight

I rest with her in a daydream
as she licks tiny muscles of
her jackballish pads
