The Cat's Behind It
Meow, then a smile.
Contentment as precious
as her ears.
She begs me to love her,
her cat fur out from behind
the window blind,
a touch of silence,
swatting at the air--
all is a circus.
She just needs a party hat.
She cherishes her place
on the ledge like royalty.
Out,
out from her sitting place,
reveling in Chinese
patterns with a lighthouse
lamp,
back on the couch
in a flying jump
licking cautiously
the orange, then white patches
the pretty body of a
female euphoria called
'my cat'.
