An Alfie day coming on I can tell. Alfie as in the song 'What's it all about Alfie?' My horoscope predicts it too; spot on today. Friday night we sit watching starving Africans, orphaned children dying of aids, homeless people with tragic lives. We shed tears, we agree we have nothing to complain about by comparison and do the only thing we can - donate some money. Twenty-four hours later, it seems who I am playing at online 'Scrabble' is of far more importance. Despite being tired and ropey, I can't help smiling at the daft conversation I'm having whilst playing my friends Sarma (Australian lady) and Paul (Canadian gentleman - and I emphasise the word ,gentleman) Not approved of here. My spirits sink and my anger rises as I'm interrogated... Is HE there again? Does HE ever play anyone else? Doesn't HE ever do anything else in the evening? (This from the armchair King) Has HE got a wife? Don't they ever go out together? Why are you getting annoyed? What do you find to talk about? (actually the refusal of the word 'fartier' in the game lol) You talk to them more than me etc etc etc etc Same old, same old row that's been going on for what seems a lifetime and is becoming extremely boring as well as irritating. I'll never work out what it's all about Alfie but I have learnt that having a sense of humour and laughing with others makes it an easier ride. Okay, I'm not always funny either but no one can manage it all the time. At least I try, and I don't set out to make anyone else miserable over trivia. I'm not sure I can stand much more of this crap but there aren't really any alternatives. It's all just so unecessary and petty. So, today has to be a writing day. I'm not really in the mood but the assignment has to be finished for Tuesday. A story set in a cemetary. That will cheer me up no end. lol Actually, I bet hubby's glad I've requested to be cremated; just think if I was buried I might mix with other people underground! Sorry, my humour does tend to be a little on the dark side. Next life I'll be a more positive, joyful person I promise. |
