Empty or full, shiny or a little in need of washing and sometimes just cracked!

Flaming June
Well, another May over and I woke this morning to the sound of a June morning - pimply sissing it down! No wonder the British are famous for talking about the weather; there is nothing so uncertain. No chance to top up that cloudburn anyway. Oh, and happy birthday Asha by the way.

No swimming today as the schools are on holiday and that means the pools are dedicated to the little dears. Don't get me wrong; I love kids but I could never eat a whole one. I think the country has gone mad in it's attempts to be child friendly, is there nowhere these days where adults can get a bit of peace and quiet? Not even pubs are an escape route nowadays. Call me a grumpy old woman, I don't care, but I do NOT wish to be around children all the time. I spent twenty-eight years teaching them and now I want some quiet adult time.

Our swimming baths has two pools; we generally use the larger one but during a school holiday it's taken over. It's not just that children are there divebombing, splashing and squealing but the fact that they have a giant bouncy castle placed right in the centre of the pool and enough water toys for the whole nation. It makes actual swimming impossible. Last holiday Pam and I decided to escape to the smaller pool for a bit of peace. The shallow end comes up to our knees but we can manage widths in the deep end. But not content with the big pool we found an overflow of youngsters complete with ammunition in this one too. When something brown, soft and warm floated by us, we decided to make a sharp exit. Too much information.

Anyway, we decided no more swimming during school holidays so later we're off on a shopping trip and for a pub meal. ( Bet it's full of kids) Not such good exercise but a change at least.

I should be going to get ready but I'm a bit reluctant. There's a ruddy great big spider by the door I have to use; must be the rain driven it inside. I suspect Rebecca might laugh at it compared to Aussie arachnids but by my standards it's a biggy. Not that I'm scared of spiders or anything; I think they're very misjudged and fascinating creatures actually. Oddly enough, yesterday I spent some time researching them for my latest story assignment but I didn't really want one this size to put in a personal appearance. I'm sure it's looking at me, waiting for me to move so it can run up my leg.

Nothing for it but to make a dash past it, wish me luck.
