Can't say goodbye ...
[ASR] An inspirational poem. Oh, my!

♠♠♠♠♠

Can’t say goodbye …

♠♠♠♠♠

Can’t say goodbye, my dearest friend,
when I soar beyond, where eagles fly.

My sorrow left with winter’s deepening,
the animosity I kept on keeping,
dead now with the memories

that no longer hurt beyond this grave
of human frailty that gave
these wounds a weeping.

Can’t say goodbye, my dearest friend,
when I soar beyond, where eagles fly

above these fleshy limitations.
My spirit scorns the imitations
that pass for morality:

the lack of kindness that broke my wings,
anger that scorched my fledgling plumes,
all healed now by grace. (elation)

Can’t say goodbye, my dearest friend,
when I soar beyond, where eagles fly.

So, dear heart, tell all who pass my grave,
"He couldn’t stay to say goodbye;
he soars beyond where eagles fly".
