Pump kin
[ASR] Silly wordplay! Thinking about my sister Diane.

♦♦♦♦♦

Pump kin

♦♦♦♦♦

She pumps the iron, strong lungs
pumping out spit like a fountain
or a pump sitting at the bottom
of the pool to suck us under.

Then in she strolls in low slung
pumps and tries to pump us up
to cheer us. She can pump us
all she wants. (We'll never answer.)

And worse of all she calls us names:
sister, mother, father, brother.
But to us she'll always be thirteen,
our youngest little pump kin.

Note: So groan already! My sister Diane's nickname was "pumpkin", later "Di-Di."
