Rowan beneath the rise of moon
[E] Written while listening to an Irish Music group.

♦♦♦♦♦

Rowan, beneath the rise of moon

♦♦♦♦♦

Straight lines follow the notes towards the horizon,
B and B-flat, parallel, discordant,
Never quite meeting past the haze
that blocks the set of sun,
or the rising of the moon,
behind the rowan copse.

Curved edge of leaf,
serration of the melodies
that rise from oblivion
where once before the gloaming met the night,
they praised the rise of moon.

Three voices weave beyond mere words,
the defeat of the Irish Nation,
folk who rose against cold tyranny,
two centuries ago.

Sweet syllables beam straight towards horizon’s edge
beneath the rising of the moon.
