One day is much like the rest. I'm seriously dwadling about unpacking boxes in the kitchen. I made myself a rule that I wouldn't bring the books in until the kithen is in order. My shelves in the study are dark wood, and well waxed now, but seem naked without all my books. You can't imagine how many books I have. I couldn't put a number to it, but the many bookshelves are always filled.

I think I've managed to get an old "friend" out of my life. I wasn't going to invite him to move into Mom's room, and he only has a week or so to stay with his brother. He doesn't have a job. His life has become my case study for how crack kills. It doesn't make your heart stop, it takes it away. The "Butch and Sandy" tales are a fictionalized meandering of his life. Maybe I can finish the story now, but I hate writing sad stories. No other way to end it realistically.

I haven't been spending the usual amount of time at the computer, and I've been splitting my time between here and www.italknews.com It's a totally different format, much more geared to what they call "citizenship Journalism". It's non-fiction writing on subjects from news and entertainment to "bizarre". I'm not navigating well, but I have a couple of frineds, and you can tag friends' stories--but I don't know why.

The articles are from a 300 - 900 word limit, and the good articles include well placed quotes. I haven't contributed anything yet. If I could write a non-fiction article on anything I wanted. . . It'a a new prompt for me. But compared to general writing.com reading italknews is a very dense read. I don't think it's suppose to be. Since the web site has been around just a little more than a month, it's still evolving. It's worth a look, and if you figure out how it works, let me know!
