These poems are about the strength of humanity and its weakness. They carve our image.

Oh, Grateful Day!
This terzanelle is to remind us to take a moment to appreciate what we have.

Oh, Grateful Day!

I rise up in the morn with one earnest notion --
the joy that God has given me this special day.
With a blissful heart I offer my devotion,

praising God for my good fortune in every way.
This reflection arms me with comfort and recalls
the joy that God has given me this special day

to cultivate and transmit the love that befalls
me as I commence the journeys of each new day.
This reflection arms me with comfort and recalls

me to my family who are waiting to say
their morning greetings and tender smiles that will start
me as I commence the journeys of each new day.

Their friendly conversation will abide within my heart,
thus throughout the day I shall contemplate on how
their morning greetings and tender smiles that will start

the journey of the day and recreate the next so
I rise up in the morn with one earnest notion.
Thus throughout the day I shall contemplate on how
With a blissful heart I offer my devotion.
