Believing
I was born a slave,
And I know in my mind,
That I shall die a slave.
My master says they won't ever free my kind.
But what's this?
Today I'm free!
Lots of people still expect me,
To call them Master and Miss,
But they don't know that I'm free!
They still may not trust me,
They may beat me still,
But I am free,
Away from that house on the hill.
