Blood Sugar BLues
Bill has been measuring his blood sugar for over a week now when he first gets up. It is not coming down significantly. I don't think he's eating carbs at work like sweets or chips, although he was eating an apple. Yesterday I gave him a sandwich. I told him last night though that if the doctor wants to hear his results on the 18th as indicated, that Bill has just a week to get it down. Maybe he needs to try to eliminate carbs for a day or so and see if that helps. I told him that I think if he can't manage his blood sugar by diet, then the doctor will put in on insulin. (I think there's an oral medicine choice too, but it won't matter to the FAA. Being diabetic will keep him from flying.) He was alarmed, and had meat and salad for supper, but then had a yogurt later I noticed, and cereal for breakfast. He doesn't get it. It probably won't make any difference anyway, if his fasting blood sugars are as high as they are. I don't know that it would help anyway to go on Atkins for a week, but I thought it would be worth a try. I'm very anxious and sad.
