I remember going to Good Friday services when I was a child. I’m not sure whether we went to the First Southern Baptist Church, which was in the city of Blackwell, or to the Southern Baptist Mission, which was in the Smelter Heights.

One person read the story of Christ’s entry into Jerusalem,
Did my parents, grandparents or both take me?

First, memories I have …
Reaching up to hold someone’s hand,
I remember palm leaves shaped like a cross,
Did the congregation partake of communion?
Always I remember specific images
Yet am not sure about other events of the day.
