Cold Oklahoma Sunday mornings:
Oatmeal with butter, raisins, and honey or brown sugar,
My grandmother made hot chocolate with marshmallows
For the five of us, while grandpa drink black coffee.
Omelets were scrambled eggs with onions and bread chunks;
Real homemade apple butter on a
Thick slice of freshly baked bread.

Fried potatoes and eggs, bacon and sausage,
On mornings when grandpa went to work;
On Saturday grandma made French toast served with
Delicious, generous helpings of homemade jam.
