A Ringing Phone - An exercise
Harry listened to the soft, almost melodic ringing of the telephone in the adjacent office. Sharon was not in. The phone would go on ringing until the caller would be deposited in her voicemail, where her sweet, sexy voice would relay the message that she was out of the office until 2pm. Harry knew Sharon would not be back today. He pushed the thick frames of his glasses back up onto the bridge of his nose and took tentative sip of his blackberry tea. Harry knew that Sharon had gone to lunch with Carl. Harry knew something else too, something that no one else did. He knew that Carl was Sharon's boyfriend and that she's been cheating on him for three weeks. And something more, he knew that today, during lunch, Carl was going to kill her.
