My blog--I pull a card--if it doesn't speak to me...perhaps it is for you? |
I love the tang and the scent of a gin martini----straight up with olives. I like the after-effects, too. Slight numbing of the lips, and the brain. The scent and much of the taste of gin comes from juniper berries----I had a recipe once for pork roast with juniper berries---but I don't believe I've ever seen one. Euell Gibbons in Stalking the Blue-Eyed Scallop states that juniper can be found growing here in southwest Florida, though I've never encountered it. The 7 of Cups is such a pleasant card----7 golden goblets filled with the treasures of the material world and a blue dragon to boot! But there are puffy clouds all around, and I get a sensation of "pie in the sky"----- I am at a point in my life where I am tired and done of striving for material success and abundance---not that it has ever been a large priority in my life. I am comfortable enough---though like many Americans uncertain what will happen as I become older---retirement doesn't seem to be a financial option. What I want, no crave, is more time. Time to be with my grandchildren, my son , and husband, my close friends. Time to spend sitting in the sun, reading, writing, bobbing in the Gulf of Mexico. I will be 57 this year---and I find I want pretty much what I wanted as I emerged into adulthood---a quiet, simple, life....time to read, to think, to dream.....so I will envision my 7 golden goblets filled with slow time, dropping bead by bead....and perhaps one goblet holding a perfect, dry martini....
