I came home from work to find a message on my answering machine from my sister, Cynthia.  She rarely calls and seemed urgent in the message.  I tried her back at several of her numbers --- no answer.  So, I left a few messages.  Then I called my parents --- no one home.  I called another sister's cell --- no answer.  I then called her house and one of my nieces answered.  Thank the Lord.

My niece, Devan, told me my dad (her papa) is in the hospital.  Don't worry.  He's just being checked out.  She gave me the phone number to his room.

I called my sweet dad --- who just turned 74 on March 7.  He is doing fine.  They have him on oxygen, which I found a little strange.  He's never had any problems with his lungs --- my mother on the other hand has smoked since she was a teenager and has COPD.  But dad has had a few problems with his heart --- some minor strokes --- and he has 3 or 4 stints(sp?).  He's been having pain in his arms all week so my mother called my sister, Missy --- who is a nurse.  She called her husband --- who is also a nurse in the cardiology(sp?) department.  He works with dad's doctor.  Doug (Missy's husband) called the doctor who said to bring him to the emergency room.

The hospital admitted dad and are monitoring him, running tests every so often.  When he feels pain in his arms, he is to call the nurse so that they can check him out when it happens.  Dad is in good hands!

I know everything will be fine.  He is where he should be --- thanks to mom.  (We all want to keep him around for a while longer...  much longer.)

So, all is well here.  My day was a little hectic as usual at work, but I'm happy to know what is going on and that my dad is in the best of hands.

May God bless my dad and keep him strong.

         Have a wonderful, blessed evening!
