Chapter 23

"Doctor?" A female voice echoed through the dim corridor.
A dark man in a white coat, his right arm in a sling, did an about-face. "What is it Nurse?" His voice was thick with a middle eastern accent.
"A young woman is here to see Michael DiBianco."
         "What?"
"I told her he's not accepting visitors, but she--"
         "--Escort her out."
         "But--"
         "Just do it."
         "I can't leave the floor."
"I'll watch over things ... go."
         "All right," she said reluctantly.
"Just be sure to come back, sometime today please."
"Of course," she said, then disappeared around the corner in a huff.
The man stepped up to room 326, stood straight, shoulders back, chin up, and grinned widely.
         He stepped inside.
         "Hello Mr. DiBi--"
The man froze in his step. Stoned cold rage swept his ridged face. "DiBianco!"
         The room was empty.
