Health Care Battle Rages On
If nothing else, "health care" reform may be getting people more involved in politics, actually paying attention to what's going on and how things are done. I hear more talk about constitutional law, and the lines between federal and state authority. Even pork barreling is getting attention.

I hear people asking why one area would get better health care than another (the senator wouldn't vote for it unless he had a certain item specified for his constituents), or why highways, or construction or whatever was tied in. Welcome to how politics happen.

I even hear people discussing issues they might not take seriously otherwise, like rationing of care or medicine to the elderly, or prisoners, or the handicapped. They want to know why non-medical bureaucrats with government secured jobs would be looking at their private files and making decisions for their care. It raises questions like if I voted for the party that's not in power, would I not get my antibiotics or x-rays?

And despite promises, people who claim to have read the entire bill, say it does allow for care to illegal immigrants and could force doctors to perform procedures they do not believe they should carry out.

I finally heard a politician speak of it as "health insurance reform". Yay! It's really not about affordable, quality health care. It's about insurance and eligibility for care.

And most of us are just plain scared of this bill. Or blindly accepting promises that most of us can't believe.

Just in case, you haven't heard of it, go to YouTube and check out Ray Stevens in We The People.
