FEBRUARY BLOGDOWN: FEB. 15 ENTRY
Feb. 15: 1)Do you think WDC maintains a good balance between Creative Fiction (novels, short stories, poetry, flash fiction, etc.) and nonfiction (journals, blogs, essays, journalistic articles, etc.)? Is there a home on WDC for nonfiction writers? Are there opportunities for nonfiction writers to be reviewed properly?

This prompt was occasioned by a review in December of my proposed Standwood Station In-Depth Reviews (which opened Jan. 4). The reviewer asked about reviews of nonfiction items, and stated that in his opinion, there was insufficient quality/quantity of nonfiction on WDC.

Now this has not been an immediate difficulty for me; most of my nonfiction essays occur in the context of this blog, although I do have a couple of pieces I posted in the summer/fall of 2007. In the mid-1990's, I wrote much nonfiction on Spirituality for my web sites, but in the last two years my concentration has been fiction: first short stories, a few novel beginnings, and occasional poetry; since Sept. 2009, almost exclusively novels, with an intermittent short story, flash fiction, or poem.

So I am not directly affected by the situation, if it does exist. But does it? Well, since I don't know, that will require research into it. And that, Gentle Readers, means I will research it (just as soon as my incredibly patchy Internet access decides to cooperate) and I will return to you quickly with my results.
