This morning I saw two cats in my backyard sitting under the oleanders. They were facing each other and preparing to make either love or war. It is unusual to see more then one cat at a time in my backyard. Normally the neighbors' cats go out of their way to avoid each other. All the cats are well fed, so the birds are safe

In my front yard, I saw mourning doves and a nightingale. The nightingale was sitting on a stone watching the mourning doves hunt insects in my driveway.This past week the neighbors' roses and purple flags bloomed. The oak trees are leafing and the birds are singing.
