I finally opened a savings account

Mom and I finally opened savings accounts. I don't think we would have did it, if Bank of America did not have a keep the change program. Mom and I use our debit cards a lot. When I make a purchase for $9.95, the bank transfers the remaining $0.05 to my savings account.
This means keeping close track of what I spend, but I do that anyway. I check the bank account at least once everyday. I know how much is in Mom's account and my account. I know when everything comes out and when the checks hit the bank. I'd rather work with a debit card because I can keep closer track of what I spend. When it comes to spending money, I have more difficulty keeping track of cash then the money in the bank.
