Another plate full of the meat and vegetables of my life. |
Usually January seems the longest month of the year and drags on interminably. This year is different and I can't believe it's already the twentieth of the month. I have no idea why time is flying so fast this January, but it's certainly not due to exciting activity or major changes. Maybe it's time to examine what I have and haven't achieved so far this month. Small things I have achieved. I used my bus pass for the first time when my sis was over for a visit. Okay, free transport is a bonus, but how I hate being classed as a pensioner. I went to see a ballet on stage with a friend. You didn't realise how cultured I am did you? I've started drinking more water and even some green tea. No wonder that stuff kills off free radicals. I've survived my first heavy cold of the year and have resisted putting hubby out of the misery of his continuing manflu. I've started clearing out unwanted stuffage, but some of it refuses to go. See above. Small things I haven't achieved. I haven't lost any weight. I haven't economised well after I promised myself I would. I haven't seen my friend Big Pam. There are several reasons for this, but one is another added complication to my life I could well do without. I haven't had much space or alone time due to the weather, commitments and hubby's continuing manflu. I haven't noticed or investigated the price of carrots. Bigger things I haven't achieved. I haven't won the Lottery. I haven't met up with Robbie Williams. I haven't squeezed into a size ten dress. I haven't been whisked away by a tall, dark, handsome toy boy. I haven't written a novel. Bigger things I have achieved. There aren't any. But the only chance of the first four in my last list happening are if I include them in the plot of the novel I haven't written. So, what have you achieved/failed to do so far this year? |
