8.17.11 Grandmother's house, a memory
Prompt: “Remember grandmother's house and all the happy times there? Share a memory.”

Sleepovers are the best
They treat us like special houseguests'
Mema and Papa assure our comfort
Putting forth every effort

My brother and I in separate twin beds,
Covered beneath the most luxurious spreads.
We anxiously await for morning to arrive
Because the breakfast meal ne'er does deprive.

In her old but alluring apron,
Happily she cooks in the kitchen
The best french toast ever eaten;
We eat all we can, feeling our stomachs fatten.

And after the last bite,
Into the living room we reunite
For the must see "The Price is Right"
While Papa reads the paper under his lamplight.

Then with so much excitement in the air,
Not wanting to be any place elsewhere,
For Mema and Papa so willing to please,
We beg to drive the go-cart, Papa hesitantly agrees.

Tired and hungry we return to the mansion
To find that Mema has already created a luncheon.
After the delicious meal that we all do admire,
We head for the swing in the back, an old black tire.

When mom arrives to take us away,
We are both filled with dismay.
If only we could live with Mema and Papa,
We would live out the best ever saga.
