Siren's Call
Siren’s Call

In silence, though that thoughts were words of love,
we speak of passion’s deep and burning flame.
Were such be known, condemned by God above,
we’d hang before the public in our shame.

Forbidden feelings heat our kindred souls,
though only moments fan such fervid fires
stolen from our routine lives and roles,
willingly we yield to dark desires.

I taste your lips and feel your presence near
though you are absent from my needful sight.
Your venom in my veins, it now is clear
that I must find the strength to do what’s right.

To find the words, I look inside my heart
and fail to find the courage to depart.
