Tethered
Tethered

I want to fly away,
to soar into
nothing.
I want to escape,
I am tethered.

I wish to be free
of my fears,
my responsibilities.
I want to forget
I am tethered.

I want to be a friend
and know that
I am loved.
But that means
I will always be tethered.

I want to feel joy.
It is their bands
wrapping around my heart,
that show me I am loved.
I am happy to be tethered.
