Trip 12: Talent Abounds

Prompt: It’s time for music! Tell us where we are going to hear some. Are we going to an opera? A concert? Are we listening to some chamber music or a grand choir? Tell us about the evening.





I did not think there could be sound in space. I wonder how sounds change when you are in space ship zipping through a vacuum at incredible speed.


Since this is my party, we all sound like insects. As this magic air bubble is our temporary home, we are learning quickly to use all items at our disposal to create rhythmic percussion sounds. Footsteps are no longer random, we walk, run or jump in cadence to create incredible harmonics. Utensils in the mess hall have become objects to make organized music. Simple things like running water, throwing an object all are timed to be in harmony with the back beat of this magic ship. We do not need a concert as everyday events have become our stage and performance venue.


We attempt to use these rhythms to communicate with passers-by. So far it has not worked. One day we will find the common ground and come to agreement on what sounds mean. That will be fun.
