Cinquain Crown
Autumn Thunderstorm

Thunder
echoes through the
night announcing autumn
rain to the drought stricken mountains
and plains.

Huge drops
strike the arid
ground splashing up thirsty
dust and the sour scent of summer
desires.

Lightning
strikes power poles,
the lines, and transformers;
plunged into darkness the city
shivers.

Ice cold
raindrops descend
in sheets overwhelming
flood canals, backing up sewers,
traffic.

Flash flood
warning issues,
citizens advised to
be safe - do not drive through standing
water.

Line Count: 25
Form: Cinquain crown is a sequence of 5 cinquain each with a syllable count of 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 2.
