CREATION / DISCOVERY

Did you ever discover something that no one knew about before you discovered it?  No?  Don't worry, you still have time.  Did you ever create a work of art?  A beautiful painting?  A beautiful sculpture?  A great work of fiction?  Something that didn't exist before you made it?

Let's see what we can find out (discover).  Let's get together a whole bunch of paints, pigments, oils, acrylics.  Brushes, boards, canvases, sponges, and paint knives.  Now, picture a magnificent cathedral in your mind.  The most beautiful cathedral you can conceive of.  Take your time.  Get out a board and start putting color and texture on the board.  Make it look like the cathedral in your mind.  WOW!  That is so beautiful!  Seriously!  You have discovered a magnificent way of dealing with those materials.  You have discovered a picture in your mind and a technique to bring that exquisite thought to life in the mind of others.  What a creation!

Now.  We go on a trip.  A tour of the worlds cathedrals.  Damn!  I didn't realize there are so many.  But wait!  There's one that looks a lot like your picture.  Yes, it looks EXACTLY like your picture!  Did we just discover the cathedral that you created?  Or vice versa?  Now I'm getting confused.  And now I'm starting to think about 'The Ontological Argument For The Existence Of God' and I certainly don't want to think about that!  I'll just go and think about paint.

BCOF:

I've created many lists.  I've either lost them or thrown them away.  Maybe someday I'll create a list of my accomplishments, things I've created.  I'll just wait until I have some things to put on the list that might lead me to a better understanding of myself.
