Bangalore
It was a hot day for Bangalore.
Symptomatic of imminent evening rain.
As dusk gild in, nature opened up to the sky in preparation, and the soul-enriching geeli mitti smell wafted in through the door.
As if on cue, the three of us lifted our heads from our respective workhorses and inhaled a deep lungful.
For a few moments all of us sank into our seats, dreamy expressions on our faces, relishing the respite as our minds flit from one remembrance to another.
What is it about the smell of rain?
Why does it affect us so?
Is it testament to the intrinsic yet ignored bond between man and nature?
Why does it bring with it all of life’s wonderful things in tow?
Love, music, friendship, food, intimacy?
What if we could bottle up a limitless supply?
And keep spraying it into the world?
Would the world be a better, more forgiving, more loving place?
