While the Sikhs celebrate Vaisakhi across India; Baisakhi holds a lesson for all.

So this day in 1699, in a congregation of people from all across India...standing there listening to their Guru, Sree Gobind Rai. Gobind Rai asked for human sacrifice of five men one after the other. Five men from different castes from different parts of India stood up from the crowd.

A shopkeeper, Daya Ram from Lahore
A farmer, Dharam Das from Meerut
A so called water carrier, called Himmat Rai from Jagannath Puri, Odisha
A tailor, called Mukham Chand from Dwarka, Gujarat
A barber, called Sahib Chand from Bidar, Karnataka

With his choice of disciples from five different corners of India, Gobind Rai ji visualised the national dream from the coast of Gujarat along Western Arabian Sea to coasts of Odisha along the Bay of Bengal; from the great Plains of Punjab to the the Gangetic Plain and then onto the Deccan peninsula covering Karnataka.
Do not forget that at that time, all these were separate states; it was Guru Gobind Singh ji that thought of all of them as one...
this Baisakhi day of 1699.

With the choice of disciples from five different caste-groups, he visualised an integrated class-less society.
The five were christened as the First Five Khalsa Sikhs, and the five in turn christened their Guru as the sixth. Gobind Rai was now Gobind Singh ji. All caste names and surnames were dropped, & a common surname was proposed for all Indians across India; a surname that denoted a caste-less, class-less creed of men willing to sacrifice themselves for the nation and against injustice.

And the swaroop he chose for the class-less people was an amalgamation of the ancient Indian thought of Rishis (as mentioned by Guru Gobind Singh in the Sarbloh Granth) and the Kshatriya tradition of Warriors, hence the Jooda, the hairs and the Talwar. The concept of Miri-Piri was coded in the dress-system of this new society envisioned by him. A group of people who were strong in Miri (Physical Strength and material possessions) and Piri (Spiritual Strength and humility)

And this was the Indian that he envisioned from the five corners of HIS nation.
Guru Gobind Singh ji was a visionary par excellence. His vision has been diluted and limited to Sikhism, that is a travesty.
Awake India, awake to his vision. Leave those caste barriers, acquire knowledge, be strong in body and be a Khalsa in spirit. Your religion doesn't matter. Khalsa is a state of mind, not just a religion.

Happy Baisakhi.

First mobile call
First mobile phone call was made 48 years ago this day, that is on April 3, 1973, by Motorola employee Martin Cooper.

Using a prototype of what would become the Motorola DynaTAC 8000x, the world's first commercial cell phone, Cooper stood near a 900 MHz base station on Sixth Avenue, between 53rd and 54th Streets, in New York City and placed a call to the headquarters of Bell Labs New Jersey.

The DynaTAC 8000X was 10 inches (25 cm) long and weighed 2.5 pounds (1 kg).. I remember when "car phones" where around in the 80's, but only if you were wealthy. Normal folks didn't have them.

I remember the first cell phones. I hated them. I love this picture of Zach from Saved By The Bell.
Sharing a post from the internet

🤔 Last week I was in Gaza on a UN mission. I saw a boy wearing torn clothes on the street.

I asked him, “ Are you a Muslim, Jew or a Christian?”

“I am hungry” he said, “How does religion even matter in such a situation? Make humanity your religion.”

I was moved. I gave him a packet of chicken.

*The boy asked, “Is the chicken halal ?”* 🤡

*Rolling* *Rolling* *Rolling* This is funnnnny.
Little wiseguy. Lol
Not funny. If you've ever gone without, you'd know that.
Hello friends,
As we are passing through our respective lives, lot of people are passing to the next phase.
There are 2 major kinds of deaths- one is physical death of an individual when he / she disappears and another is death of the existence of a person in the mind of rest of the people.
Won't it be of immense value if we donot inform the news of physical deaths of our near and dear ones. This way the person would stay alive in our minds even though he / she is physically absent......
For example if we just don't spread the news of death of our family member or a celebrity, they will continue to live in our minds for many more years. In other words we can increase life span of each other in our respective minds for many more years.....may be till beyond we ourselves are physically dead.......
This is especially true in present times we hardly get to physically meet many of our peers / family and thus are only alive in each other's mind....🙋‍♂️
Let us increase each other's longevity 🙂

My sister died in 1983 and I still feel her presence today. She was a unique woman and her death shook our family. She’s everywhere. That’s how strong her essence is.
Another way to help remember those whose souls have ascended to the spiritual realm is to have a closed casket funeral, without a viewing before the funeral. We tend to remember people the way we last saw them.
Prosperous Snow celebrating - A closed casket is a good idea. I made the mistake of touching my sister's face, and it felt like cardboard. I won't be buried. For me, cremation makes more sense.
Happy anniversary 🎈🎉🎈🎉🎈🎉🎈

Happy 11th WDC Birthday, sindbad ! Have a wonderful celebration today! And Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy anniversary
Before November closes out, I need to do a few things —

First, I must thank everyone for the wonderful Anniversary wishes, reviews, Cnotes, and Merit Badges!

I tried to thank each of you individually, and hopefully, I did, but just in case a

BIG THANK YOU TO ALL!!

Second, I have to figure out how the whole poll thingy works. Gonna' be needin' it in the upcoming months.

Third, I am going to set up my Garden Journal here; I do it helter-skelter offline, but I need to be more organized and thought I'd share the progress/failures with anyone who might want to follow along.

Fourth, I am going ahead with a short story contest for Valentine's Day, a contest in two parts;

A Romantic Comedy level Rated from E to 13+
An Erotic Romance level Rated 13+ to XGC

I got a few maybes as far as co-judges, so if you are, or might be interested in judging one or both levels, please let me know;

Please be sure to tell what levels you are comfortable judging.

I would like at least two judges, besides myself, to help ward off a tied situation.

Richard ~ Shenanigans INC.

Just to make sure I reach as many people as possible,
I will reward everyone who passes this on with 2000 Gift Points.

For your cut/paste pleasure, this note can be found here "November Plotting, in all of its WriteML glory.

And maybe a Trinket — Yeah, definitely a trinket!

Thank You!!
