No Such Thing As A Perfect Christmas
Almost nothing is perfect, except in our imaginations. But we can appreciate what we have and be satisfied.

I did work a long, stressful day. Most people were pretty nice (not all). Tension seemed to be down from yesterday. First thing I did when I got home late was to remove my shoes. Ahhh!

No one came to see my dad tonight while I wasn't there to clean up. He did start some cooking on his own, but hadn't gotten too far when I got home. I had things pretty clean already, so his mess wasn't as bad as I was expecting. He started the roast beef without me, so the oven is full. He made seafood salad for appetizers. When he's all done in the kitchen, I can go do more things besides sweep and wash the dishes.

The presents are under the tree. Everything is straight. Dad will spread out his newspapers soon, but I'll get those up tomorrow. We have time in the morning to cook the turkey, have our own fancy breakfast, and clean-up before anyone arrives. The hardest part of any meal for me is coordinating the temperatures of the dishes at the same time to seat everyone.

It was a wet day so the neighborhood delayed the candles to New Year's Eve. So our house is very calm. It looks like Christmas will go off without any problems.

My two year old nephew told me that all he wants for Christmas is "a dog, a dat, and candy"--a real dog, a real cat, and any candy. I'm pretty sure there are no pets in his future, and his mom won't let him have candy. But I got him some candy any way.
