Pink Sky
As I made dinner two nights ago, I noticed out the back door a beautiful sunset. A golden pink lay low over the horizon. Pink paled as it drifted up through zigzagging clouds, streaking the darkening blue gray sky. It was so beautiful, I was awestruck. I lingered there to watch, knowing it wouldn't last long. Then I glanced up at the clock and realized that two weeks or less ago, it was totally dark at this time of day. The days are getting longer.
Despite the snow drifts, the icicles dripping off the eaves, and the driveway that was still slick on the shady exit, the promise of spring hung in the evening sky.
For the patient and the impatient, spring always comes.
