Fun Fact Friday: Videos, Veterans Day, Death of an Artist
Friday, November 11, 2016

“We seem to be able to relate to detail…It’s better to say ‘watching Captain Kangaroo.’ Not ‘watching TV.’ Sitting in my room ‘with that hopeless little screen.’ Not just ‘TV,’ but ‘the hopeless, little screen.’ I think those are the details that delight us. They delight us because we can share a life then.”
Leonard Cohen to Paul Zollo, 1992

The Fun Fact Friday prompt for "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS
On this day in 1952, the first video recorder was demonstrated by John Mullin and Wayne Johnson in Beverly Hills, California. How would you explain YouTube to these gentlemen?

Videos

Time moves
leaving behind
the heroes of technology,
as ghost on old video tapes
while YouTube daily replays yesterday's
and today's videos uploaded for the viewer's pleasure.

The "Blogging Circle of Friends prompt for DAY 1457
Let's remember our Veterans, our loved ones with a blog entry on this special remembrance day.. Share something special they have done that has influenced you.

Veterans Day

Voices from combat zones reverberate,
Echo across the nations of Earth,
Through smoke replete with the scent of gunpowder,
Echoing with the screams of mortars and death;
Remember those who fell in battle,
And don't forget those who returned home,
Never curse the homeless Veteran begging on the corner:
Share your gratitude with each service person you meet.

Duty and love of country called them into action,
As they marched offed to a foreign battlefields in wars fought
Yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise prompt for DAY 997
November 10th we lost one of my favorite artists, Leonard Cohen. If you are familiar with his work share with us what you enjoyed. Have you read his poetry or his books? If you are not familiar discuss an artist that has passed that you loved.

Death of an Artist

In his own sweet time,
Azrael1 embraces us all
and carries our souls through death's dark door
into the afterlife,
into the realm of eternity,
to meet old friends and family.

An artist dies
ascends into the next world
clothed in the music
he has created on Earth.
