Why Art?
i hated art in school. I mean what difference did it make to me if some guy named Picasso was famous because of his art work. It wasn't making me any money and it probably never would unless i became an art thief! Poetry on the other hand made perfect sense to me. I didn't understand how people could look at blobs of paint and see so many different things in them. I seen were blobs of paint. Then one day I heard one of my professors talk about an art appreciation class he had taken. The professor of his class had held up a piece of blank white paper and asked the students what they saw.. Each told him they saw a piece of blank paper. The professor asked my professor what he saw. He said that he saw a polar bear in a snowstorm.! It occurred to me right then that art is about the use of the imagination. So yes there is value in art classes.
