Adverbs
"Adverbs

It is often said that a good writer doesn't tell a story. A good writer paints a picture involving the five senses that leads the reader to a conclusion. One of the biggest necessary evils in grammar is adverbs. Adverbs are those pesky words that end in "ly". When the author uses adverbs they tell the story but they fail to lead the reader. Here's an example:

The bee flew around the flower hungrily.
The flower waited patiently for the bee to land.
When the bee landed the flower gulped the bee down greedily.

Now to retell it:

The bee buzzed around the flower as his stomach growled with hunger.
The flower felt great anxiety as it watched the bee approach.
The bee landed on the flower and the flower swallowed the bee.
