Subjects and predicates.
"Subjects and predicates."

The January 8, 2017 Writing Classroom assignment says "For January 8 we are going to do something simple. Identify the subject and predicate of a sentence."

Here are mine:

Subject is in rose. Predicates are orange.

I am sitting at my desk.

My mother was one of the world's finest cooks.

Among the children she had I am the oldest.

Can somebody tell me why the predicate came first in that last sentence?

That last question is just for fun.
