A Rock Speaks

When I was in the stream,
I couldn't hear our song
because I was singing
with the stream.

I wanted to hear our song,
so I ask the stream
to wash me upon the shore
where I could hear the singing stream.

Now I rest upon the shore
listening to my sister stones
help the stream sing
and I ask:
"Am I hearing the song
as it would sound
if I were one of the stones
in the stream's choir?"
