Midweek Reflections on Flower Arrangements and The Seasons
Wednesday, March 22, 2017

The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise prompt for Day 1105
"Arranging a bowl of flowers in the morning can give a sense of quiet in a crowded day-like writing a poem or saying a prayer." What are your thoughts on this?

Flower Arrangements

I have to disagree about arranging flowers because I think that prayer followed by writing poetry is a better way of achieving silence on a crowded day. I enjoy looking or receiving flower arrangements, but I don't especially enjoy arranging the flowers. If I'm going to send flowers or purchase an arrangement for myself I will go to a professional because I think they do an excellent job. I do a good job arranging the lines and stanza of a poem, which in some ways are similar to arranging flowers. However, the few times I attempted to arrange flowers they looked lopsided.

The "Blogging Circle of Friends prompt for DAY 1588
"Each season has its own special blessings." What are some of the blessings of the season. Write about one or all four seasons.

The Seasons

The wind of spring
whispers through palm fronds
carrying with it
angelic blessings.

Summer's breeze
fondles olive leaves
proclaiming
a momentary cease fire
in the war
between the genders.

Autumn orange leaves dance
through alleys
and across city streets
laughing
in the chilly fall wind.

White flakes descend
from winter gray clouds,
a cold breeze blows
freezing ice cycles on the eaves
of apartment roofs.
