The Prophecy of Agnes

What has been is what will be..

"Are you safe?" Agnes boyfriend asked.
He was not pleased with her situation.
"Don't you think I can take care of myself?"
she answered not knowing if she could.
"The news reported ants attacking Moon bases.
What is going on? Can you get home?"
Charlie was very forceful in his tone
and always succeeded in his goals.
That was some of things she loved about him.

But, Agnes was a very stubborn woman.
Her base had been swept of ants multiple times.
And the ants were refined into pure trillium ..
Her company was making a fortune and her share
had made her millions.
"You said they had human faces?" Charlie continued.
"Well, they don't have a nose or ears.
Their eyes are black and they have a thin mouth."
Agnes voice trailed off.

The company's security forces had captured a queen ant.
"Have you considered the possibility they might be sentient?"
She ignored Charlie as she read the typed report on her computer
screen: <Alien Queen wishes to speak with Agnes.>
"Ah, Charlie? The Queen Moon Ant wants to speak with me..
My God I've committed genocide. I'm Hitler on the Moon."
Agnes was hyperventilating.
"Get on a shuttle to Earth! You can't change anything now."
Charlie growled and broke something that sounded like glass.

Agnes door bell rang.
She looked at the video screen of her front door.
There were two men in combat security space suits at her door.
She buzzed them into the airlock.
"Agnes!" It was her general manager Freddy and a cop.
Freddy gave her a big hug and a kiss.
"Lieutenant Kendal, United Nations Moon Security."
he shook her hand .. Maybe, she wasn't Hitler on the Moon?
Agnes gave a nervous smile, "How can I help?"

"We have a video link to the Queen Moon Ant.
She wishes to surrender to you. It's their custom.
We appreciate if you speak to Sequa.
Or this war might not stop soon." Lt Kendal spoke
plainly and handed Agnes his mobile phone.
"Of course.." Agnes gave a toothy smile and was shocked
to see the Queen looking at her.
"For millennium we have lived in peace under the sands
of the Moon. Then you came in search of rocks.
And now you grind my people into sand.
I curse you and all your children.
May you die in the dust of your world."
The Queen Moon Ant fell silent but continued to
stare at Agnes.

Agnes swallowed and took a breath,
"I am so sorry. I did not know you were intelligent.
Please forgive me."
Agnes general manager took the phone and held it so
that the Queen of Moon Ants Sequa could look at Agnes
as Lt. Kendal slit her throat.
Agnes face filled with terror as she grasped her throat
and hit the floor.
"Thank you." The Queen of the Ants Sequa spoke,
"I will allow your Moon bases to remain as long as
you do not harvest my people."
Freddy capitulated and shut off the phone.

Agnes screamed, "Was that a fake knife?"
She jumped to her feet and Freddy hugged her,
"You don't believe I would kill you for money?"
he laughed, "I knew you were an actress."
"You will be transported to Earth in a casket."
Lt. Kendal explained that the ants would be watching.
Agnes returned to Earth and was given a new identity ..
She kept her shares in the company and married Charlie.

Agnes looked down at an ant hill in her garden.
"Are they thinking?" she asked Charlie.
"How do I know? They've been around a long time."
Charlie hugged Agnes. They planted marigolds ..
Ants don't like them.
