July 9, 1850:
Only The Beginning

It was only the beginning, that day in the market square of Tabriz, in what is now Iran. The commander of the 750 rifles that took the lives of Siyyid ‘Ali-Muhammad, the Bab2, and Anis, who requested to die with the Bab,3 thought they had put an end to the new revelation brought by the Bab. However, it was only the beginning because from there the Babi and, its successor, the Baha'i Faith spread across the world. Today, in every nation there are Baha'is who commemorate the Martyrdom of the Bab, and celebrate the Twin Holy Days of the Birth of the Bab and Baha'u'llah.

It was only the beginning
