April in Las Vegas

It's April in Las Vegas,
the temperatures rising,
but only into the middle seventies.

The trees,
few of which
actually lost their leaves
this year,
are--
with the assistance of the wind--
distributing their pollen
throughout the valley.

The birds
are feeling randy
and building nests.

April in Las Vegas
is a wonderful time of year
because you can actually
afford to pay your power bill
and eat
in the same month.
