Death of Judas: A Metaphor for the Duality of Human Nature
Death of Judas:
A Metaphor for the Duality of Human Nature

I

Speak softly in my presence, Brother!
The old man said to the trembling priest,
I cannot die until the world ends, Brother!
Then, like Him whom I betrayed,
I am reborn in the guise of another.

II

Eternally the battle must continue,
Between the two extremes of human nature:
Ego will betray the higher self,
Unless the soul takes the reigns in hand,
And controls the frightened mount.
