The Missed Feast
The Missed Feast

The friends of God are gathered
at the Supper of the Lord,
rejoicing in their communion
with the Glory of God.

I set alone at work
longing for their camaraderie,
desiring to her the Beloved's words
read by the lovers of the Almighty.

The room doesn't echo
with the voices of the friends,
the words of the Beloved
I don't hear read aloud.

I know that work is worship
still the Feast I wish to attend,
Word doesn't fill the void
that I feel in my soul.

The Lord's Supper
is a blessed event.
It feeds body, mind, and spirit
with the Bread of Life.

In the presence of the Blessed Beauty
the world is born anew.
The spirit grows and prospers
in the Kingdom of Abha.

I listent to the printer
echoing the lamentations of my heart.
The voice of the computer
echoes the anguish of my soul.

What good is money
to the hungry spirit?
It doesn't feed the starving seeker
Or quench the lover's thirst.

I know that work is worship
still the Feast I miss so much.
Work can't fill
the longing for my Lord.

The companionship of the Baha'is
is a priceless gem.
A jewel to be treasured
by the lover's of God.
