Quiet Hopes
Peace restored to quiet write
at home in hope today.
The moments breathe. The day is bright.
There's room to think and pray.

Some times of life are rough and brusque,
A challenge to our faith.
But when the test has strengthened us,
the spirit's cleansed and bathed.

The music may be soft and low
with atmosphere so light.
The colored lights of gentle glow
show hope returned to right.

Just sit among the elm tree leaves
on iron bench secure,
And listen for the sound reprieve,
while silence may endure.

Is love still love when days are swirls
of jumbled things to do?
Are friendships strong when all our world
quick tosses me and you?

Oh, Yes! We walk through tattered bits
of lists to do and be.
We'll sweep up residue of quits
and start again, you'll see.

Our love is strong. Our friendship, too.
We'll meet on other side
Of whirlwind time of things to do
and voices that us chide.

A cup of tea, a gentle book,
a space of time to rest,
Are all we need to find new look,
to see we're truly blessed.
