Prayer Break

         in medias res1
I pause
intone a healing prayer,
experience
the Holy Spirit's tranquility
flow through my mind,
and smile.

Is worry a disease
of my insistent-self,
the evil whisperer,
or obsession?

Whichever it is
the healing prayers
revealed by Baha'u'llah
silence
my busy mind,
and refocus my soul.

Here's a strange question that might get some ideas flowing. Where do spiders and stars overlap. After all John Donne found inspiration with a flea. Have fun!

Spiders and Stars

Spiders crawl across the landscape
of an unknown planet
orbiting a distant star.

Spiders weave their webs
between the fallen towers
of a dead civilizations
on a planets orbiting stars
in one of the spiral arms
of either the Milky Way
or Andromeda galaxies.

In October, the prequel to Dracula is being released by Bram Stoker's Great-Grandnephew Dacre Stoker. The book is called Dracul. How about writing a paragraph or two of a prequel to Dracula and then when the book is released you can see how you did compared to his. This could be a lot of fun.

Vlad the Impaler

Vlad the Impaler2,
Vlad III,
or Vlad Dracula;
names that raise the image
of hate,
fear,
and death.

A product of his era,
a terrorist;
his images associated
with flowing blood.
