Bean Soup and New Year's Resolutions
Iatiqlall (Independence), 17 Masa’il (Questions) 175 B.E. - Friday, December 28, 2018

"Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on,
with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us."
Hal Borland

DAY 2231 December 28, 2018
Use these words in your entry today: form, laugh, hypnotic, smell, bray, country, bean and store. Have fun!

Bean Soup

Inhale the scent of winter,
the smell of snow
on Mount Charleston.

Listen to the north wind:
Can you hear it laugh?

The wind
and the snow ignores
the harsh bray
of politicians
in their attempt to segregate
humanity--
with the walls of fear and hatred--
into enclaves
by country,
religion,
gender,
etc.

Humanity
is a multi-bean soup!

The shape
or form of the beans
is less important
than the way their taste compliment
each other.

You cannot create
a hypnotic tasting bean soup
by purchasing
one type of bean
in a store.

DAY 1838 December 28, 2018
Let's discuss New Year's resolutions, do you believe they're effective ways to get motivated or to set goals or are they something you laughingly make each year and then promptly blow off? Have you or have you seen people effectively fulfilled a resolution?

New Year's Resolutions

I have writing I want to accomplish in 2019. I have made a "Goals To Do List" for first three months of 2019. I may or may not change anything on that list when I reevaluate (9 of the items) it in March of 2019. There are somethings I haven't put on it, which could go on it. I decided to limit the list to ten items, because that's all I think I can focus on.

Goals To Do List for 2019
Reevaluate in March 2019

*BulletO* Write 200 poems to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Bab and place them in "Bicentenary Poems and Prose.
*BulletP* Include a birth in one or more stories submitted to contests. See "Action/Adventure Newsletter (December 19, 2018).
*BulletB* Set up editing schedule and deadline (at least one day before the Monday specific newsletter is due) for upcoming news letters.
*BulletG* Respond to, at least, 20 prompts for "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS, "Blogging Circle of Friends , and/or "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise each month. The responses will be in "I Blog Poetry and Prose

*BulletV* Do a better job of keeping track of my finances by checking my bank account every day.
*Bullet* Placeholder for project I need to finish in 2019 if it isn't finished by January 1, 2019. Once this project is complete, this becomes a placeholder for whatever comes up during the year.
