Journey Within

Journey Within

I took a journey into self,
Beyond the licked doors of my mind,
Alone I walked dark corridors,
To see what I would find.

I discovered hidden cellars,
In which dwelt my darkest fears,
In stale dust closets,
Goals abandoned through the years.

I discovered broken statues,
In the temple of my mind,
Idols, to which I had sacrificed
My highest hopes and precious time.

In the attic I discovered,
Within dust laden trunks,
Forgotten scraps of knowledge,
And unadulterated bunk.

From my journey I returned,
A humbler and wiser person, too.
In contemplation I've discovered,
That one journey will not do.
