Hello new year
Hello new year. They tell me you bring strawberries and sadness. They tell me you wear polished sunbeams and raindrop prisms. They tell me you belong to me and they would like me to partake of ur banquet. They tell me ur meat is rich ur sauce is thick ur wine is stronger than anything before.

But what of the days that melt into nights and nights that are blanched by days
By the passing of the shades of light
By the shadow people
the years after and the years behind colliding in the soft soil of dreams

Are there new days? Are there new nights? Are there years?
Are there deaths and life rebirthed?

Is there only a beach inside a sand dune?
Waiting
For the city to burn and the rain to stop
For a homecoming an ending and

Maybe for the restlessness of time maybe for the desperation of skin maybe for the hunger of the tongues in the brain maybe for gutters in the throat
To run run run run dry.
