Saturday Poem

Butterfly flutter,
as dawn's vivacious echoes
scatter night's furious birds.

Sol sails his boat of light
across the blue lagoon
of morning.

In verdant valleys,
the lovers of light awake,
and give thanks
for the gift
of another day.

Intoning
the joy of day
the children of light
bait the hooks
of curiosity.

Their joyful songs
surprise and baffle
the creatures of night,
who lay concealed
in their dark burrows.
